According to § 9 paragraph 4 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), the doctoral students' representation advises on issues concerning doctoral students and makes recommendations to the organs of the university. The Faculty Council must give the doctoral students' representation the opportunity to comment on drafts of doctoral regulations. A member of the doctoral students' representation usually attends the meetings of the Senate and the Faculty Council in an advisory capacity.
