Doctoral studies start till May 2012
Please read the doctoral regulations carefully first
We would like to point out that a doctorate according to the doctoral regulations of 2010 is only possible for those doctoral candidates who have already submitted a certificate of supervision (transitional regulation) to the faculty by 31 December 2012. If you have not submitted the certificate of supervision by the deadline, you will be awarded your doctorate in accordance with the doctoral regulations of 2016 (for the procedure, see extra page Doctoral studies starting in June 2012)!
1. Enrolment
According to § 9 Abs. 2 Satz 4 NHG doctoral candidates have to enrol as doctoral students. Enrolment takes place at the Study Centre
(Student Secretariat)

According to § 5 para. 3 clause 2 of the above mentioned doctoral regulations, at the beginning of a doctorate the main supervisor has to submit to the faculty a proposal for the services to be rendered by his/her doctoral student within the framework of the doctoral studies (doctoral study programme) ...to the form
The topic of the doctoral thesis should be assigned at the latest after the first semester of the "doctoral studies".
2. The application to initiate the doctoral procedure
In due course (after completion of the dissertation), the completed dissertation and the other necessary documents are to be submitted to the Dean's Office in consultation with the main supervisor for the purpose of opening the doctoral examination procedure. The Faculty Council decides on the opening of the doctoral procedure at the next Faculty Council meeting (meeting dates) or by circulation. For the opening of the doctoral procedure in a Faculty Council meeting, please submit the documents to the Dean's Office in due time, i.e. at least 1 week before the meeting.
The following documents are necessary for the opening of the doctoral procedure:
- Information sheet (overview of all documents to be submitted)
- Affidavit (mentioned on the information sheet as affidavit no. 1)
- Application for doctorate
- Certificate of supervision
- Affidavit (mentioned on the information sheet as Affidavit No. 2)
- Statistical sheet

3. Publication of the dissertation (after the oral examination)
